The Evolution of Our HYROX Simulation Events Here In Didcot


Over the last year, our HYROX simulation events have become one of the highlights of our

gyms calendar. They’ve helped first-time racers build confidence, given experienced athletes a chance to test themselves, and created an atmosphere that genuinely feels like race day.

As HYROX continues to grow within our community, we felt it was time to evolve the format of our simulations too.


Our Previous Format

Our original simulations were built around two progressive levels:


Bronze Level

Designed for beginners and newer members, Bronze reduced the intensity of the event by:

  • Shorter station distances

  • Lower overall volume

  • Walking 500m between stations instead of running

This format allowed people to experience the structure of HYROX without the pressure of completing the full race format.


Silver Level

Silver acted as the next progression step:

  • Participants ran 500m between stations

  • Volumes were increased compared to Bronze

  • Athletes began experiencing a more race-like challenge

The aim of both formats was simple: make HYROX accessible to everybody regardless of fitness level or experience.


Why We’ve Changed the Format

As our community has grown, so has the range of athletes taking part in our events.

We now have:

  • Complete beginners

  • Members training for their first official HYROX

  • Competitive racers chasing PBs

  • Athletes wanting a realistic race simulation

Because of this, we wanted to simplify the structure while making it more aligned with the real HYROX experience.


Introducing The New Format

Our simulations will now offer two clear options:



Full HYROX Simulation

This is HYROX in its entirety.

Participants will complete:

  • Full running distances

  • Full station volumes

  • Official race structure


This option is ideal for:

  • Athletes preparing for competition

  • Members wanting a true race-day experience

  • Anyone looking to benchmark their fitness against the official format








HYROX Lite

HYROX Lite has been designed to keep the event accessible while still preserving the

feeling and flow of a real HYROX race.


In HYROX Lite:

  • Running distances are reduced by 50%

  • Stations are reduced by approximately 30%

    • either through reduced reps,

    • reduced distance,

    • or lighter weights depending on the movement


  • Lite can also be completed as a doubles event.


Rather than creating completely separate levels, HYROX Lite gives participants a more direct scaled version of the real event.


What This Means For Participants

The new structure gives athletes a clearer progression path:

  • Start with HYROX Lite

  • Build confidence and fitness

  • Progress into the full simulation when ready

It also allows training and pacing strategies to become more specific to real HYROX racing, making the events even more valuable for competition preparation.

Most importantly, it keeps the events inclusive.


Whether your goal is:

  • simply finishing,

  • improving fitness,

  • completing your first HYROX,

  • or chasing a competitive time,

there’s now an option designed for you.


The Goal Hasn’t Changed

Although the format has evolved, the purpose of these events remains exactly the same:

  • challenge yourself,

  • support others,

  • and experience the incredible atmosphere that makes HYROX training so addictive.
